Is the digital age destroying thinking?

Quite frequently in my workplace I hear comments about how technology and the internet is ruining the ability of students to think independently and creatively. I find it interesting that in a time of such rapid innovation and invention and in a time where students are rapidly embracing new technologies and using them independently and creatively that this is a perception that is still around.
